Jesus-Nite at DBA

The historical pages of Don Bosco Aluva found a significant addition as the community witnessed what is called Jesus-Nite for the first time. The initiative was taken up by the Entertainment Sodality. The whole Nite was geared towards honouring the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus to which Our Province and all the Formation houses are dedicated. It was a new and enriching experience for everyone who participated and witnessed it. The community felt that it was a concrete way of expressing our devotion to the Sacred Heart. Fr. Alex the Rector of the community rightly said in his inaugural note that the event served as an apt preparation for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Besides, he encouraged the young Salesians to take up more initiatives of this kind and prepare themselves to be effective youth ministers. He exhorted everyone to make a learning experience of such occasions and use similar means to attract the youth towards the faith. The event aptly concluded with a prayerful offering up of every house of our Province to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  

DBA Echoes Viva il Papa

Faithful to one of the devotions that our Father and Founder has handed down to us, Don Bosco College, Aluva solemnly celebrated the Pope’s day on June 29, 2011. One of the concrete ways by which the College honours the Pope is by holding a Symposium and conducting an academy in honour of the Pope.  This year the college held a Symposium on the latest Apostolic Exhortation “Verbum Domini.” Rev. Frs. Joshi (the Secretary of the KCBC Bible Commission) and Jacob Prasad (the principal of Carmelgiri Seminary) were the resource persons for the symposium. After the symposium the celebration took on a musical note as the College conducted an Academy in Pope’s honour. Various courses of students paid their homage to the Pope through different items. The air in the auditorium was filled with the slogan “Long live the Pope,” “Viva il Papa.” While this was one of the major events of the College, it gave us Salesians, an opportunity to share our devotion with the men and women of other Religious Congregations.
